“Part of the reason relationships and friendships can be so difficult for me is because there is a part of me that thinks I have to get things just right. I have to say the right things and do the right things or I won’t be liked or loved anymore.”
-Roxane Gay, Hunger
Today’s LitBowl prompt is inspired by this quote from Roxane Gay’s powerful book, Hunger. For more inspiration, get the book below!
Prompt: Write about a time when you said the wrong thing, or did the wrong thing, and someone loved or supported you anyway. Alternately, write about a time when you did this for someone else.
Feel free to respond in the comments below! We’ve been loving the responses we’ve received to the first four prompts, and we can’t wait to see what all of you keep writing.

He always told me it was a problem
You are too uptight, let go
Don’t worry too muvh, those meant for you will stay anyway
I always thought people stay because of what you can bring out
I was or rather am probably wrong
Some people just stick around because they love it there
When all seemed bleak and l thought l had lost it all
I needed a shoulder to lean on,he ran and offered and Oh My God it felt like l was Rose and Jack was freezing to death for my sake.
He always seemed decent, never admitted or confirmed l meant anything,
It was always frustrating the way l wanted so badly to be one of the Frost Sisters from The Gifted series and just read his mind.
When l needed him nomatter how stupid l acted, he would be right there!
One good turn deserves another doesn’t it?
I would if l could, literally move oceans to see him happy,
He kinda knew l was always one call away!
He knew what he could do for me, l would do more without even thinking.
I didn’t him to act or do or give anything.
Even though he said all the wrong things and could be mean like Sue Slyvelster from Glee,
I still wanted to stick around anyway as if l had nowhere else to go.
Yeah it’s true, some people, and almost everyone has someone they stick around for nommater what just because they want to!
The flower I had got
Had turned to wither and rot
Before I had a chance to love you.
But folded in the nook
Of your favorite book
Was the violet that gave it’s life for you.
